Sebnem, the founder of International Health Store, brings a truly global perspective and a deeply personal passion to her work. Born and raised in Turkey, her ancestry bridges continents—from Greece and Albania to Scotland and Canada. Her Scottish grandparents began their new lives in Nova Scotia, and Sebnem herself has lived, studied, and worked in both Canada and the United States, making her fluent in English and attuned to international patients’ needs.
Sebnem’s story is more than professional—it’s personal. She was raised in a multi-generational home, sharing a close, lifelong bond with her beloved grandmother, or babaanne. Her grandmother’s passing was a profound loss, one that not only left a mark on Sebnem’s heart but also manifested physically. Soon after, Sebnem developed Vitiligo, a chronic autoimmune condition that causes skin depigmentation. Doctors believe it was triggered by grief. Today, over 65% of Sebnem’s skin bears the visible signs of this journey—a journey that has shaped who she is.
Rather than hide, Sebnem chose to rise—with empathy, strength, and purpose.
Her own experience with physical change and emotional healing ignited her mission: to help others transform their lives through safe, supportive, and high-quality medical care abroad.
